The vintage Pflueger 2800 Model DF baitcasting reel is a classic piece of freshwater fishing history that any angling enthusiast would be proud to display as part of their treasured collection. This made in the USA reel, is a relatively scarce Pfleuger model as its production was limited from 1977 to 1980 before being replaced by the Pflueger Model 2600 (at which time its production was discontinued).
The Pflueger 2800 Model DF reel being offered here is in good condition commensurate with its age. It belonged to an avid bass fisherman (one owner) who took pride in his fishing gear and cared for it well. The reel has no major blemishes, and shows well. The free spool mechanism and ‘clicker’ work as should and the spool turns freely. The star drag and anti-backlash also seem to work properly. There does appear to be some wear from use on the carriage screw and/or pall nut as the crank does not retrieve as smoothly as it could. The reel has not been disassembled, so can’t comment on the internal gears. The reel is being sold as a display item.
