20-25hrs per week QC/Packaging position at a Cut & Sew workshop based in LONGVILLE, MINNESOTA. Please only apply if you are within a 30min drive of Longville, it’s tough to get up here in winter from further out. We are a two person owner/operator team looking for help. Our workshop is small & based out of the lower level of our home + garage.
THE JOB:
Turning small fabric items inside out, checking for flaws & then packaging them in plastic bags.
PRODUCTION WORK IS BORING and REPETITIVE. The workshop is pretty quiet because we’re all focused on our individual work (sewing, cutting, hardware setting etc..) and have noise cancelling headphones in. This position is not a good fit for someone who thrives in super sociable environments (we don’t want a social butterfly to feel sad/lonely).
Great for an introvert who doesn’t mind repetitive work + needs a flexible part time schedule + likes the quiet and wants to listen to music/podcasts/audiobooks all day
REQUIREMENTS:
1. You will need good attention to detail + sharp eyes to check for flaws etc….
2. Able to maintain a good pace! If you’ve worked in fast paced food service, production, or manufacturing this will be easy for you.
3. Not for sensitive hands (repetitive use injuries/carpal tunnel/arthritis). We have done this job ourselves for over 12 years and it’s never caused any issues, but if you already have sensitive hands it might not be a good fit for you.
4.Must be ok with an anxious mini poodle who hangs out in the workshop. He’s wary of strangers and likes to bark at them. He has an E-collar (vibrate only) that generally works to correct his rude barking, but it will take time for him to get used to you (then he will be your best friend). You can ignore him while he adjusts + we provide noise cancelling headphones for this job. He’s hypoallergenic and non-shedding.
5. This workshop is coconut free due to an airborne anaphylactic coconut allergy, no personal care products (lotion, perfume, added fragrance etc...) or food, beverages etc... containing coconut can be brought into the workshop.
The workshop is also fragrance free and perfume use is not allowed (scented personal care/skincare is fine etc...we just find perfume can cling to products manufactured on-site). All hand soaps and cleaning supplies in the workshop are hypoallergenic and fragrance free.
THE PAY:
Starting pay is $18/hr, bumping to $20/hr after training/hitting production goals (usually this is within the 1 month probation period). Pay scale goes up to $24/hr. Longterm there will be optional cross training of other tasks around the workshop (sewing, cutting, hardware setting...).
BENEFITS:
This PT job provides PTO (1hr for every 30hrs worked + after passing the 1st month of probation you automatically get 3 days of PTO added), you will qualify for Minnesota Paid Leave based on hours worked for other types of leave (family, health etc…). We are too small to be able to offer health insurance, but can help you enroll in a MNsure plan if needed.
SCHEDULING:
We’ll work with you to figure out a schedule. We operate 7 days a week (6am-6pm) and you can choose your own schedule to fit the 20-25hrs. If you want to work 5hrs five days a week, three 8hr days OR 3 short days and a longer one-it’s up to you! You can also change your schedule as needed. As long as the work gets done, we’re pretty flexible schedule-wise. Right now we need 20-25hrs, but sometimes our workload increases (especially leading up to the holidays it can be up to 40hrs) and you can add hours if you want to-we ask, don’t require.
SEND US AN EMAIL TO APPLY. Feel free to include a resume, or just a blurb about yourself-nothing fancy! We will be scheduling working interviews to determine if this position is a good fit. Ideally we are hoping to find someone by end of May.
Principals only. Recruiters, please don't contact this job poster.
