Custom built Layens beehives and frames. Hives are built in 21 frames with 1.5" spacing. Hive come with your choice of touching or non-touching topbars. Non-touching topbars come with a cover cloth. Hives come with 1 follower board. Hives are built with 1.5" of natural wool insulation sandwiched between 2 layers of 3/8" plywood. They have a 3" air space below the frames for improved ventilation and ease of installing Langstroth nucs with the use of a conversion shim. Extra depth also gives option of using 2 Langstroth medium frames tied together. Hive has an air space above the frames so sugar or fondant can be fed in the winter if needed. Extra insulation can also be added to this area if wanted. Peaked roof is insulated and ventilated just like the roof on a house to keep the hive warm in the winter but also cooler in the summer. Hives have multiple entrances giving options to divide the hive or extra ventilation. Hives are heavy and two people will be needed to move.
Stands are sold separately and are built with cedar 2x4 and have screw in feet in the bottom to ease leveling of the hive.
